Robert Trabert Obituary

Robert Kennedy Trabert, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, age 77, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at his home in San Leandro, California.

Rob attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, where he studied engineering and competed as a collegiate swimmer. He went on to earn certification as a Mechanical Engineer from the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, a distinguished and limited professional achievement. For decades, he worked as the lead engineer at a food company in Oakland, California, where he developed and implemented numerous ideas to improve productivity and efficiency.

In retirement, Rob continued his passion for building and creating. He applied his engineering skills to transform the Mulford Gardens Improvement Association community park into a vibrant gathering place. He also founded a club and held workshops for local enthusiasts who met regularly to build amplifiers. As chairman of the Neighborhood Crime Watch Program - Mulford Gardens Adjoining Neighborhoods, Rob supported local law enforcement and helped foster a safer, more connected community. He extended his giving nature to the community around him and many days, he could be found helping a neighbor or lending a hand at a park event.

Rob found joy in many things, spending time with his loving wife and family, and playing with his grandchildren. Family trips often included skiing, scuba diving, and adventures in Hawaii, Australia, Tahiti, Mexico, Thailand, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Austria, China, the Caribbean Islands, and beyond. South America held a special place in his heart as his favorite region. Rob enjoyed many years of country western dancing with his wife and formed cherished friendships along the way. His fondest memories were made with his wife and friends while dancing. He followed his deep appreciation for music by attending festivals around the country and the world.

Rob is survived by his wife, Lisa Trabert, daughter, Lydia Li and her husband Shawn Mudd, and two granddaughters, Eleanor Mudd and Vivian Mudd. Also surviving are stepmother Sandra Trabert, brother Frank Trabert and his wife Michele Trabert, sister Teresa Trabert, and sister Janet (Trabert) Edling and her husband John Edling.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert A. Trabert and Mary Jane Trabert, and his sister Loretta Trabert.
